Nature is disappearing

You can't protect what you can't see. Most of the planet's ecosystems are changing faster than we can track them using traditional field surveys and manual monitoring. Scientists estimate we've only discovered a fraction of Earth's species, and we're losing biodiversity before we even know what's there.

We need real-time, planet-scale monitoring systems that can detect changes in forest cover, species populations, water quality, and ecosystem health as they happen — not months or years later when it's too late to respond.

Forests and natural habitats are disappearing at an alarming rate — we lose an area the size of a football field every few seconds. Drainage for agriculture, urban development, pollution, and climate change are destroying these vital ecosystems. When peatlands dry out, they release massive amounts of stored carbon. When wetlands disappear, communities lose natural flood protection and water filtration.

Ocean ecosystems are collapsing under pressure from overfishing, pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction. Fish populations have declined by 90% in many areas, coral reefs are bleaching and dying, and vast dead zones are spreading where nothing can survive.

The ocean provides food for billions of people and regulates Earth's climate, but we're treating it like an unlimited dumping ground and fish mine. We need technology to help us fish sustainably, protect marine habitats, and restore damaged ocean ecosystems before they pass the point of no return.

In our current economic system, a living forest is worth nothing until you cut it down, and a thriving wetland has no value until you drain it for development. This fundamental market failure means that short-term profits from destroying nature always win over long-term benefits from protecting it.

We need to create economic systems that recognize and reward the enormous value that healthy ecosystems provide — clean water, carbon storage, flood protection, pollination, and countless other services. When nature has clear financial value, protecting it becomes profitable instead of costly.
